I'll stamp all over 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer will face Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be shown live on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" the American as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.
Ex two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth disparity - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Fighter's Mentality
"I will injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," the British boxer, 35, declared.
"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I'm going to genuinely try to injure him. That's my intention."
Respectful Interaction
Despite these statements, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Paul instead criticized ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and labeled him "a joke" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Fighter
In spite of declaring he will damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.
"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he said.
Paul's History
Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.
He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
However, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making massive financial rewards.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old predicted a KO victory in rounds four or five and asserted he would stop the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.
Physical Difference
As both boxers participated in the usual stare-down, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it drove home just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is truly happening.
